Dysphagia Management
Dysphagia is defined as ‘difficulty with swallowing’. It can occur as a result of a stroke or other neurological disease, normal aging, benign or malignant growths or after a long period of inactivity. The goals of dysphagia management are to maintain adequate nutritional intake and to maximize airway protection. Treatment approaches include dietary modification and training in swallowing techniques and manoeuvres.
