What is ‘Hearing Matters’?
HearingMatters refers to the audiology services of testing hearing in adults and children and providing and servicing assistive hearing devices when required.
What is the testing process like?
If you are having standard hearing test, the process takes from 30-45min. If you are having any additional tests (ABR, EcochG, VNG) it can take up to two hours.
For paediatrics from 0-3 years both behavioural and objective tests are conducted, where the child is not required to respond. By ensuring that all the structures of the ear are intact, we infer that hearing is within normal limits.
For paediatrics from 3-5 years more frequency specific testing is conducted, and depending on the child, objective measures can also be used. The child is required to respond. Thresholds are obtained in a fun, game-like way.
Diagnostic hearing tests can be conducted on everyone over the age of 5 years. This involves obtaining hearing thresholds at each frequency as well as testing all the structures within the ear to ensure their functioning is healthy.
Which hearing aid companies do you work with?
We work with all the major hearing aid companies:
Hearing aid trials are available prior to purchasing hearing aids. All hearing aid companies provide clients with the opportunity to trial a demo version of the hearing aid they are considering purchasing. The trial period ranges from 10-30 days depending on the hearing aid company. As demo stock is supplied by the hearing aid company it can take up to two weeks for your hearing aid to be supplied.
